Infomedia18 has relaunched its product YellowPages.co.in which would offer “users an enhanced buying and selling experience. The reincarnated Infomodia Yellow Pages boasts a database of over 1500 business categories across the country. The strong database of IYP had also led to its partnership with Guruji.com in late 2006. Back then Anurag Dod, Co-Founder & CEO, Guruji.com had said, “Infomedia is one of the leading media companies with the largest database of business listing“.

Now, IYP is back, with not just a strong database but, with features that make it even more user friendly. Searching and sorting data is simpler using the city-based search and ‘Filter By Alphabet’ sorting options. The website also helps bridge the gap between potential buyers and sellers. Buyers can submit their requirements at YellowPages.co.in, to get connected with sellers who are verified by the IYP. The ‘Call for Free‘ and the ‘Send Contact Details to Phone’ options help a seller to connect with potential buyers, as well as helping buyers connecting with sellers.
The YellowPages.co.in website brings with it some other features as well, like the list of exhibitions that IYP will be
participating in, access to the
print version of the IYP listing and an option to opt-in for the bi-monthly newsletter, ‘
IYP Scope’ which provides, “up-to-date news on IYP, success stories, of IYP’s advertisers and interesting articles on the latest developments and practices in the business world.”
We had a conversation with Niyaz k, Head of Online Marketing at Infomedia18 to understand IYP better and Sunil Thomas, COO Infomedia18, had the following answers to our questions:
- You mentioned that this is a “relaunch” of YellowPages.co.in. How is it different from the previous version?
From a simple directory information site, we have moved to a much more interactive and user-friendly experience. Popular categories and highlighted and made user-friendly to search. Online enquiry forms are now present on the site, using which we can satisfy specific user-needs for different products and services. There are also interactive features like “Call for free” and “Send contact details” to the phone. We now provide services to our end-users online, through SMS, email as well as through our print directory. Also check out http://www.iypconnect.in/ which is a buyer-seller platform we have recently launched online and offline under the Infomedia Yellow Pages umbrella. We want to connect a lot more closely with our end-users and provide value added services in addition to being an information directory.
- Guruji.com had previously partnered with YellowPages.co.in to improve its local search. Does the partnership still hold?
We had partnership with Guruji.com for sharing our data before, now we don’t have any alliance with them.
- How is YellowPages.co.in different from IndiaMART.com?
Our product is very similar to IndiaMART – but while IndiaMART is restricted to primarily B2B category, we provide comprehensive information and business enquiries also to B2C categories (for example doctors, florist etc.). Also, unlike IndiaMART we provide the same value to our customers and users using other channels including our print directory, which is the market leader for yellow pages in India. We also make it easier for users by not forcing them to register and login to our site in order to get their requirements fulfilled.
