Keep your Mobile Phone Safe at a Public Charging Station

This is not an uncommon problem. Your cell-phone is running out of battery, you need to make an urgent call but left the charger at home. What do you do next?
If you are at an airport or a shopping mall, it is not that big a problem because these places often have charging stations installed that can be used to charge the battery of almost any mobile phone. It doesn’t matter whether your phone requires a Micro-USB connector, a Mini-USB or a 2mm charger, the kiosk will have a suitable charging port for you.
mobile phone charger
Mobile charging stations are convenient but at the same time, there’s a level of security risk associate with them.
Security researchers have warned that public charging stations may be configured to upload malware on your phone and, at the same time, data can also be downloaded from the mobile phone while the battery is getting charged.

Keep your Phone Safe While Charging at a Public Kiosk

There are basically two ways to charge a mobile phone’s battery. You can either use a power cord that plugs directly into an electric outlet or you can use a USB based charger that draws power from a computer’s USB port. If a charging station internally uses the latter option, it may put your phone data at risk.
It is however relatively simple to keep your phone secure even while charging it at a public kiosk. Just remember to power off your phone completely before connecting it to the charging station and you should be safe.
The mobile charging stations installed at airports can be considered safe but the same may not always be true for other public kiosks that are operated by unknown people. If you have no option but to use such kiosks, do turn off the phone first.

Upload Photos from a Mobile Phone to your Facebook Album

upload mobile photos to facebook You captured a bunch of photos using the camera of your mobile phone - now how do you upload these pictures directly to Facebook without having to transfer them to a desktop computer?
There are basically three ways by which you can send photos from a mobile phone to the Facebook website - MMS, Mobile Phone Apps and Email. Let's look at each of these options one by one.
Facebook Apps for Mobile
If you have a smartphone like the iPhone, BlackBerry, Windows Mobile or Nokia (with Ovi Store), you can visit m.facebook.com using the internet browser of your mobile phone and download the Facebook application for your device. These apps will often integrate with the camera function of your phone and provide an option to directly upload pictures to Facebook right after they've been taken.
If there's no official Facebook app available for your mobile platform, you may also check the mobile app at Shozu.com - Shozu is available for a  large number of mobile phones and allows uploading photos/videos to Facebook in addition to most other social sites.
Facebook MMS
Now if you are not carrying a smartphone but still want to move pictures from the phone to Facebook, you can use picture messaging or MMS. Here's how it works.
Compose a new MMS message on your mobile phone and attach the image file that you want to post to your Facebook stream with the MSS message. Send that MMS to mobile@facebook.com (email, not phone) and Facebook will send you a confirmation code (via text) to associate your mobile phone number with your Facebook profile.
The MMS option looks like a nice technique for upload photos from old phones but the problem is that it may not always work as expected and secondly, sending MMS messages per picture (depending upon your carrier plan) can sometimes turn out to be an expensive proposition.
Facebook Email
Luckily, there's another option provided your mobile phone can send email. Go to facebook.com/mobile and note a special "upload" email address that has been assigned to you by Facebook. Any photograph (or video clip) that is sent to this address via email will instantly get posted to your Facebook page.
Much like Flickr, when you send a photo to this "unique" email address, the subject of your email message will be used as the photo caption.  And these photos will get saved in the "Mobile Uploads" photo album of your Facebook account visible to all your Facebook contacts. You can consider changing the privacy settings of your "Mobile Uploads" folder to change the default viewership of photographs upload from a mobile device.
Another tip - the email address assigned by Facebook can be quite long and complex so you may want to save it to your phone address book beforehand for easy access.
Facebook + Posterous
When you send photos to Facebook via the email option, all pictures are published to the "Mobile Uploads" folder by default and unfortunately, there's no option to change that setting. However, if you want Facebook to create separate photo albums for each of your batch uploads, you can consider using Posterous.
It works like this. First link your Facebook account with Posterous. Then go to yourPosterous Autopost settings and set the minimum Facebook gallery size to either 1 or 2. Now when you send an email message to facebook@posterous.com with 2 or more photos, they will be posted to their own albums on Facebook so it becomes more easy for you to manage / sort pictures later.

What is Android

Android

There are different mobiles and computers operating systems like different models of computers and mobiles. Android is one of the operating systems using by the smart phones. Android is not simply an operating system rather hardware and programming languages are also use this Android Technology.
Android was invented by an anonymous company but later on Google has taken its copyrights reserved and is now doing further development in this technology. It is Linux based technology that uses Unix as an operating system. Linux is the most recent technology in the field of communication and computing. It is therefore Android is demanded by most of the users to have it their operating system.  However it is also a fact that Google is offering an open choice for the users to modify and add any new application without even bring on the notice of Google. Anyone can upload a new application on the Android platform as App Store to either free or payable. These application uploads by the users can be easily download by the users and enjoy more features like additional games, interactive media and business plan.Android technology is open to use by anyone who wants to develop applications as it promotes the user to add new ideas by using the programming code accessible by them. The flexibility of Android technology makes it more convenient to the operating system to have this as a base for smartphones. The only requirement is software development kit availability to bring any change in it.

There are two common versions of Android as one is cupcake in which sliding physical keyboard is present in the phone and second is HTC EVO which is totally touch screen operable. It allow user to physically contact the touch screen to perform different functions. Android avoids multitasking yet interface is quite good and user friendly.

4G Network

What is 4G Network

With the advent of Wireless technology there opens a new door to the communication standard. 4G is the fourth level of the wireless generation. The implementation and access to the 4G network is still in it development stage. All the giants of mobile industry and tech engineers are busy to research and devise it with full confidence. The specification under consideration is the high speed for the data transfer with online security. 4G Networks will hopefully come into the field with the promises it is making with the customer of speed and security.
4G network or wireless communication is not a new terminology as 1G, 2G & 3G are already in the market and has been used by the people since 1980. All generations have their particular traits to attract the user for its use. 1G is the first complete wireless standard removes the fuss of wiring and per channel 1 user.  The lodging of multi user in one channel becomes possible when 2G comes with improved version after a decade (1990) of 1G. 3G revolutionized the concept of internet. 3G is the 21st generation network and is enjoying its privilege. The successor of 3G is now its way of implementation and is known as 4G. The video facility and speed which is introduced by 3G will be the true essence of 4G. It promises all basic features together with high speed.

The ITU has laid down the specifications for the 4G standard and if it will meet the criterion set by International Telecommunications Union then it will recognized because already different improved versions are introduced but nominated as 3.1 – 3.9 G. 4G network is heading towards a new dimension in the field of wireless technology. Its first step is the provision of quality service to its clients. Second point is the refine signals for reliable communication with no fear of data loss.

4G will make sure that the information should be passed along with authentication. An enhanced experience will be provided by the 4G network for audio / visual and other multimedia services. Speculations are that 4G will come up with ultimate speed of 100 mega bits per second. It is also specifies on behalf of ITU that will facilitate interactive roaming everywhere.
Above are the specifications processed by ITU while different technological groups are also placing suggestions as how to improve 4G network. Their first suggestion is the WiMax privilege as compared to any other wireless protocol. Their second recommendation is the data transfer in packet mode having specific IP. It is hopefully would be the fastest wireless network ever experienced by the users.

A special characteristic given to 4G network is the transmission through antennas which will make it possible to communicate within an organization reliably. A new technology in this response is introduced in the field with the name of special multiplexing in a series form that will be possible between one transmitter and receiver. Antennas are considered as the fastest mode of communication.

4G Technology

What is 4G technology

When talking about 4G, question comes to our mind is what is 4G Technology. 4G is short forFourth (4th) Generation Technology. 4G Technology is basically the extension in the 3G technology with more bandwidth and services offers in the 3G. But at this time nobody exactly knows the true 4G definition. Some people say that 4G technology is the future technologies that are mostly in their maturity period. The expectation for the 4G technology is basically the high quality audio/video streaming over end to end Internet Protocol. If the Internet Protocol (IP) multimedia sub-system movement achieves what it going to do, nothing of this possibly will matter. WiMAX or mobile structural design will become progressively more translucent, and therefore the acceptance of several architectures by a particular network operator ever more common. Many Technologies appear in many different flavours and have many diverse tags attached to them, but that does not really indicate that they are moving in dissimilar tracks. The technologies that fall in the 4G categories are UMTS, OFDM, SDR, TD-SCDMA, MIMO andWiMAX to the some extent.

4G Technology offers high data rates that will generate new trends for the market and prospects for established as well as for new telecommunication businesses. 4G networks, when tied together with mobile phones with in-built higher resolution digital cameras and also High Definition capabilities will facilitate video blogs.
After successful implementation, 4G technology is likely to enable ubiquitous computing, that will simultaneously connects to numerous high date speed networks offers faultless handoffs all over the geographical regions. Many network operators possibly utilize technologies for example; wireless mesh networks and cognitive radio network to guarantee secure connection & competently allocates equally network traffic and bandwidth.

Some of the companies trying 4G mobile communication at 100 Mbps for mobile users and up to 1 Gbps over fixed stations. They planned on publicly launching their first commercial wireless network around 2010. As far as other competitor’s mobile communication companies working on 4G technology even more quickly. Sprint Nextel was planned to launch WiMAX over 4G broadband mobile network in United States. Some of the other developed countries like United Kingdom stated a plan to sale via auction of 4G mobile frequencies couple of years back. The word “MAGIC” also refers to 4G technology which stands for Mobile multimedia

How 2G Works

How 2G Technology Works

Advancement in mobile phones technology has been marked by generation (G). Analog phones are related to the 1st generation (1G), and then come digital phones marked by second generation (2G). This second generation mobile phones has changed the concept of mobile phones by introducing high data transfer rate, increased frequency band and wireless connectivity.

There are three different types of technologies in the second generation these are FDMA (Frequency Division Multiple Access), TDMA (Time Division Multiple Access) and CDMA (Code Division Multiple Access). All types have one common feature of multiple access which means that many users are able to use the same number of cells. First part of all the technologies makes difference.

Because of different types of technologies utilizes in 2G mobiles, there are different types of mobiles according to the technology incorporate in them. Let see the 2G technologiesuse in mobiles and their functions as they work

How 2G (FDMA) Works

Frequency Division Multiple Access (FDMA) enables the calls to use different frequency by splitting it into small cells. Each call uses different frequency. The phenomenon is same as in radio where different channels broadcast on separate frequency. So every radio station has been assigned different frequency according to the specific band available. FDMA is best in case of analog transmission but also support digital transmission. No doubt it is accommodating to the digital signals yet with poor service.

How 2G (TDMA) Works

Different technologies are categorized in second generation’s TDMA standard according to the different time zones indifferent countries in the world. These technologies are
  • GSM (Global System for Mobile Communication) nearly used in the whole world.
  • IDEN (Integrated Digital Enhanced Network) is introduced by Motorola used in US and Canada.
  • IS-136 (Interim Standard-136) also known as D-AMPS (Digital Advanced Mobile Phone System) prevail in South and North America.
  • PDC (Personal Digital Cellular) is used in Japan.
TDMA is a narrow band of 30 KHz wide and 6.7 millisecond long. It is divided into three slots of time. Using the CODEC, stands for Compression / Decompression algorithm, compresses the digital information and use less space leaving for the other users. Division of this narrow band into three time slots increases the capacity of frequency band. TDMA supports both frequency bands IS-54 and IS-136. GSM (TDMA) is a different standard and provide basis for IDEN and PCS. Being an international standard, it covers many countries of the world. There is only the need for changing the SIM and you can get connected no need to buy a new phone. Having two different bands
  • 900-1800 MHz band covers Europe and Asia
  • 850-1900 MHz band covers United State
First band is in sync widely but second is limited to the United State. It is better to go for the first one if you need to go on extensive travelling.

How 2G (CDMA) Works

Contrary to TDMA, CDMA works in a singular way. Like TDMA, It also converts the information into digital data and sends it. Now the information is extended upon the bandwidth. Incoming calls are spread over the surface of the channel and a code is allocated to them. As the data is spread over the surface of channel it is known as spread spectrum. It compresses the data into small packets and sends it to a separate frequency columns.

Every caller sends out data to a similar spectrum. Every caller’s signals are spread over the channel having a unique code. Reaching at the receiving point, codes are to be matched and hence data delivers. CDMA refers to the GPS standard for marking the time stamp on the broadcast signals. CDMA supports Interim Standard (IS-95) and operational at the frequency bands of 800 MHz and 1900 MHz.
